The coast of Gaasterland is dotted by the remains of an old wall made of six and a half feet long wooden poles, built to protect the land from the Zuiderzee.
When the Zuiderzee was dammed off, their protective function ceased and they were left to slowly decay, exposed to weather and waves.
This produced an environment filled with photographic treasures.
Exploring, I found many fascinating shapes and photographed them over various seasons.
Many pictures are close-ups, with a few overviews of the area, taken at Oudemirdumerklif and Mirnserklif.
